Take to the capital’s skies!

It’s not a coincidence that whenever you look for holiday bargains, or even if you see them in the Travel Agent’s window, they’re more often than not departing from a London airport, most often from Gatwick. This is annoying if you don’t live near the capital, but don’t let this put you off grabbing a bargain!

You might think its false economy, but there are ways to still save money, even factoring in the cost of travel down to London. Let me explain.

If you manage to find a serious steal of a bargain on either a package holiday, or just a flight, then its time to get clever. Write down your details, flight times and price, and then do a few sums. You can either take an airport coach, or train down to the airport, or you can drive, and my personal opinion would be to drive.

Regardless of how you get there, if you find your flight is early then it is a good idea to look at the possibility of staying overnight at an airport, on-site and close by. The major advantage of this is that you’re exactly where you need to be, and you can even make it work to your advantage by adding an extra night of pampering onto your break!

Of course, if it all works out to be the same as flying from your regional airport, or even more, then it’s not worthwhile, however there are many occasions when it still works out cheaper to do it this way. Yes, it’s more traveling, but if you can save money and add a little more adventure onto your break, then why not go for it?

It’s important to insure your holidays plans, no matter where you’re flying from, and I always find a good way to do this is to buy an annual insurance policy at the beginning of the year. This way you do it once, forget about it for the rest of the year, provided you’re traveling within the guidelines of your policy, and you don’t have to remember to buy another policy if you go away again.

All these ways of saving money mean you have more spare to spend once you’re in resort, and that’s where the real fun starts. Saving a little here and there could also be the difference between one holiday, and no holiday, and I believe everyone is entitled to a break of some sort!
