If you’d like to enjoy the rustic beauty of the Caribbean in its most natural surroundings, then you can’t go wrong by heading to the east-side of Barbados for a perfect and affordable getaway.

Going on a Barbados holiday means you are travelling to the eastern-most island of the Caribbean. The eastern and southeastern coast of the Caribbean is less tame and much wilder. With the stronger waves of the Atlantic Ocean, it will be a tougher challenge for you to go surfing, wind surfing, kite boarding, and other water sports. But for those who want less of the glitz and more of the action, this would be right where you want to be!

On the other hand, the west coast offers miles upon miles of white sandy beaches. The waters here are much calmer, making them ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Touted as excellent for diving, it is here where dive sites are located such that you’d have the first-hand experience of seeing sunken ships, artifacts from shipwrecks, and natural coral reefs. On a good day, you’d also have the chance to swim with the turtles and come up close & personal with all sorts of marine life. All these amazing things can happen to you if you choose to go on a Catamaran Cruise.

Also, going on a Barbados holiday won’t be complete without experiencing an Island Tour. By venturing out on a 4×4 vehicle or on horseback, this will be your way of finding out what makes the island truly special! An island with a rolling terrain of lush greenery and limestone hills, there will be several botanical gardens with rare tropical flowers for you to see. Some of these include Flower Forest, Orchid World, and Andromeda Botanical Gardens.

Likewise, its hilly terrain comes with limestone caves which show the most interesting rock formations and a hidden waterfall or two. Those to capture your interest (and to recapture on your camera) would be Harrison’s Cave and Animal Flower Cave.

As evidence of the Caribbean’s colonial past, there are also many old plantation homes with vast grounds and sugar cane fields. A step back in time, they date back to a history of slave trade from ages ago. Much of this history is documented in the interior of the Barbados Museum.

Because of its strong ties with the UK, Barbados also abounds with old churches and parliament buildings. Some of them dating back to the 1600’s, they are proof of early English settlers and their way of life.

Without being stuffy at all, the capital of Bridgetown is still very English in appeal. Here, the lodgings are much more comfortable and the service sophisticated. Just envision yourself having afternoon tea, eating a delicious lunch buffet at a plantation, or enjoying a game of cricket with your peers. Another favorite pastime, of course, would be nightclubbing with dancing all night long and drinking local rum made and distilled from the finest sugar cane.

Thus, whether you travel inland or explore the great outdoors, you’d find beauty all around Barbados. Some of it may be rustic and the rest of it may be modern, but they all blend into one whole, enriching experience – all designed to give you a glimpse into the Caribbean way of life through Barbados holidays.
