#1: You’re a NASCAR Fan

Few cities appeal to NASCAR fans like Charlotte. Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts numerous events throughout spring, summer, and fall. Some of the most popular events include NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, NASCAR Nationwide Series 300, and Bank of America 500. The speedway also hosts some rallycross races that add a little variety to the schedule.  Hipmunk.com recommends sports fans stay at the Hilton Garden Inn Uptown Charlotte which is located only one block away from the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Fans may also want to visit the NASCAR Hall of Fame. It has a theater, simulated racetracks, and plenty of exhibits about the most talented NASCAR drivers.

#2: Excellent Whitewater Rafting

The U.S. National Whitewater Center is an excellent place for whitewater rafters to find thrills while improving their skills. The center has Class II, III, and IV rapids as well as calm waters for relaxed activities. Some popular options include adventure rafting, family rafting, whitewater kayaking, and whitewater sup (stand-up paddle). The Whitewater Center also has land activities such as climbing, ziplines, and hiking trails. It’s a great place for anyone who loves the outdoors.

#3: Outdoor Adventures in the City

Like most cities, Charlotte has plenty of parks that offer some recreational areas. People who love outdoor adventures, however, often want more than a few playgrounds and short running trails. That’s why anyone who loves the outdoors should consider visiting Charlotte. Little Sugar Creek Greenway in Uptown Charlotte has a 12.5-mile trail suitable for walking, jogging, and biking. That’s plenty of distance for those who want to push themselves to go farther.  For a relaxing stroll, visit the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens or the beautiful grounds at the Biltmore Estate. The greenway is also home to the Trail of History. This series of bronze statues recognizes some of the most important people and moments in American history. You can get a workout for your body and your brain.

#4: Great Food Without Pretension

Charlotte’s top restaurants have kept up with culinary trends around the world. It doesn’t take much effort to find an affordable eatery that makes you wonder why you ever need to visit places like New York and San Francisco again. Unlike big cities with a lot of gourmet options, though, you don’t get much pretension in Charlotte. It’s a laid back town where people know how to appreciate good food without showing off. Charlotte has plenty of dining options for people who want upscale food without the snobby attitude.

#5: You Love Flowers

Charlotte is a paradise for people who love the look and smell of fresh flowers. The UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens has 10 acres of beautifully arranged plant life. It’s open seven days a week during daylight hours. There’s also a greenhouse open during select hours. Visitors can see all of this for free. Gardeners might also want to visit Wing Haven. It’s smaller than the botanical garden at UNC, but it has some interesting plants laid out in unique designs. Wing Haven doubles as a bird sanctuary. So whether you are a huge NASCAR fan or want a relaxed city full of greenspace, Charlotte has something to offer everyone.  Check out Hipmunk.com for cheap flights, last minute hotels deals, and things to do during your stay.
